Regional definition: Study in Regional area and Graduate visa 485
Immigration is changing the definition of Regional with upcoming new skilled regionals visas.
Originally, Regional are expect; Brisbane and Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. With the recent media release, there will be a Regional centre concept. With new definition, there will be;
Major cities:
Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane
Regional centres:
Perth, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Sunshine Coast, Canberra, Newcastle/ Lake Macquarie, Wollongong, Illawarra, Geelong and Hobart (Cities and major regional centres)
Regional area:
Outside Major cites and regional centres

This will impact the Study in Regional area points, 485 Graduate visa duration (eg: Post graduate stream two years in major cities, three years in regional centres, four years in regional area etc) along with two new regional visas.
Additional years for 485 graduate visa will be with graduates from 2021 with maintain ongoing residence in in regional area during graduate visa according to IMMI’s updates.
