491 SWR Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa
494 SESR Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa
Then Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa 191 from 16/11/2022
1. Regional: Where?
Regional definitions will be, all Australia except; (More details will come with post codes.)
Brisbane and Gold Coast
Melbourne
Perth
Sydney
Impact of this new combined definition of regional will be in;
-5 points: Study in regional area
-10 points: Nomination by State or territory government and
-5 additional points for regional nomination or sponsorship for settling in regional area.
Employers and State and Territory governments will have more access to occupations in regional area.
2. What is difference?
1) More points for SWR : Current 10 points for 489, 15 points for 491
2) Priority Processing
3) Applicants and their families to live, work and study in a regional area for three years
4) Report any change of circumstances to the department within 14 days (May required to attend an interview or provide supporting documents)
Barred from applying for an onshore partner via for at least three years (Offshore is ok)
Study in Regional area only for children
Additional 5 points for STEM qualification (Masters by research or PhD)

SESR is sponsored in a job before they apply
SWR an eligible occupation are revised regularly by the department of jobs and small business to ensure.
